Google Gears
Went into Admin today (haven’t been in for a while) and saw this link at the top left called “Turbo” it asks me to install this app called Google Gears. Turns out it’s for web apps and has 3 features:
- Let web applications interact naturally with your desktop
- Store data locally in a fully-searchable database
- Run JavaScript in the background to improve performance
I like the idea especially the second, hopefully will speed up things round here. Any way back to the story so I install it restart FireFox click turbo and this popup with Google Gears in the title’s there asking for permission, also like this idea because of the first point… I don’t want some random site fiddling with my desktop. Obviously I accept and it starts storing stuff locally… easy! Haven’t really seen any real effects yet but hopefully the uptake will be big with some of these big web apps. Early stages yet… We’ll see.

FFOLKES Unlocks123 Mod for Battlefield 2
After a long time of hunting this single-player mod for Battlefield 2 down I have finally found it!!! The one I found took me 1 hour to download because the server was soooo slow. I have reuploaded it to my two servers for anyone else looking for it. I’d recommend using Utah becuase it’s a faster line.

School Email from Home
For those who go to school at CGS I have written tutorials on getting your favourite Mail clients to check them from home. If you want another client added just comment on this post and I will work on it.

Hmmm forgot to post this but here it is:
Back from Sydney… was really fun. Some of the highlights were:
- Learning to fire and firing .22 Long Rifles
- Holding a MP5, RPG, Austeyr, and 2 MG’s
- Getting to fly in a C-130J Super Hercules
I will have images of the Hercules, and the MP5, RPG, Austeyr soon just need to compile them.
